Route info: Lemosho route has a higher success rate since the trail requires 7 and 8 climbing days. Hence its preferred by climbers with less hiking experience

All payments includes: payment for the park, food, guides' salaries, tents and houses, carriers' salaries , transportation

Tips: for guides it is $15 / day, the cook is $10 / day, carriers is $7 -$8 / day

Day 1: From Londorossi Gate (2250m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2650m)

Elevation gain: 400m

Trekking time: 3-4 hours

This morning you will meet your head guide. We are leaving from Moshi and drive to Londorossi gate to initiate the climb. The hike takes you through the tropical rainforest allowing you to spot wildlife like buffalo and elephants along the way. Proceed with the steady climb to reach Mti Mkubwa camp in the afternoon. Have rest and prepare to set camp for an overnight stay.

Day 2: From Mti Mkubwa Camp (2650 m) to Shira 1 Camp (3610m)

Elevation gain: 960m

Trekking time: 5-6 hours

Set out for another day hike while exiting the rain forest and entering heath land moorland vegetation. A short walk passes through Shira Ridge which leads down to Shira 1 Camp. Enjoy stunning view across the valley below and Western Breach of Kilimanjaro above. Dinner and sleep at the camp. 

Day 3: From Shira 1 Camp (3610 m) to Moir Hut (4161 m)

Elevation gain: 551m

Trekking time: 5-7 hours

Climb out the moorland meadows for acclimatizing heading towards Shira 2 Camp. The path crosses over Shira Plateau to finally make a stop at Moir hut. Have rest upon arrival while waiting for hot dinner to be served. 

Day 4: From Moir Hut (4161 m) to Lava Tower (4600 m) and to Barranco Camp (3900 m)

Elevation gain: 424m

Elevation loss: 700m 

Trekking time: 6-8 hours

Climb into the semi desert landscape through the 'Garden of the Senecios' towards Lava Tower meant for acclimatization. This enables your body to adapt to high altitude and lower oxygen levels. Have lunch at the tower and proceed hiking to reach Barranco camp for dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 5: From Barranco Camp (3900 m) to Karanga Camp (3995m)

Elevation gain: 95m

Trekking time: 4-5 hours

Spend another day acclimatizing to climb the Great Barranco Wall of 900 ft cliff. Take a walk across a series of hills and valleys into the Karanga Valley taking you to Karanga Camp. This is where you will set camp for an overnight stay. 

Day 6: From Karanga Camp (3995 m) to Barafu Camp (4673m)

Elevation gain: 678m

Trekking time: 4-5 hours

Climb out the moorland meadows for acclimatizing heading towards Shira 2 Camp. The path crosses over Shira Plateau to finally make a stop at Moir hut. Have rest upon arrival while waiting for hot dinner to be served.

Day 7: From Barafu Camp (4673 m) To Uhuru Peak (5895 m)

Elevation gain: 1222m

Elevation loss: 2795m

Trekking time: 13- 15 hours

Be awake by around 23:00 hours for a hot drink + snacks and putting on the necessary trekking gears. By torchlight, leave camp and start climbing through the volcanic scree to reach Stella Point (5685m) by sunrise. Spend some time resting and enjoying the view before making the final round trip to reach Uhuru peak (5895m). Take photographs at the summit while feeling accomplished standing at the highest point in Africa. Start descending down the mountain to finally reach Mweka hut in the evening. 

Day 8: From Mweka Camp (3100 m) to Mweka Gate (1640 m)

Elevation loss: 1460m

Trekking time: 3-4 hours

After breakfast, finish the trek with a descent to Mweka Gate. This is the last day that hikers go for a short walk. At the gate, you will be met and transferred back to Moshi.
